The Maesllwch Arms
An historic country hotel in the Wye Valley at the foot of the Black Mountains.
Maesllwch (pronounced MICE LUKE) translates from the Welsh as "field by the pool" (probably one of the several pools in the river Wye).
Under new management since the summer of 2009, the Maesllwch Arms at Glasbury offers a warm welcome with comfortable accommodation, a relaxing atmosphere and good food and drink. The hotel offers a choice of double, twin, family and single rooms. Click here for more details, pictures and rates.
The Maesllwch Arms is in the beautiful surroundings of the Wye Valley on the border between Wales and England within easy reach of Hay on Wye, The Brecon Beacons, The Black Mountains, the Sustrans Cycle Network, the Wye Valley Walk and of course the River Wye itself, great for fishing, walking, cycling, canoeing or just watching the water. For things to do in the local area please have a look at the Activities page by clicking here, or using the menu at the top of the page.
The Wye Valley straddles the border between England and Wales. The Wye is the fifth longest river in the United Kingdom. Glasbury lies on one of the natural crossing points of the Wye, where the valley is at its narrowest. A ferry across the Wye at Glasbury is first mentioned in 1311. The historic town of Hay on Wye, the town of books and home of the famous Hay Festival is only 5 minutes away by car or a pleasant walk along the river.
